Luckenbach Celebrates Independence Day Weekend!

Art Gallery Tour - June 30

Sheryl Brown Fine Art will be offering a walking gallery tour on this Friday, June 30, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Galleries to be featured include Fredericksburg Art Gallery, Photography 414 and Whistle Pik. The tour will start at Fredericksburg Art Gallery at 314 East Main Street.

Double B's Jamboree & Fireworks Display - 7/1

The 4th annual Independence Day Celebration at Double B Ranch & Hidden Springs Golf Course features a mega fireworks display at 10PM, with 4 real cannons blasting, and live music from Barbra Puckett & Limited Edition from 7PM - 12AM. Tickets are $10/per person in advance or $15 at the gate. Kids under 12 are free with parental supervision.

There will also be a Golf Tournament at the Hidden Springs Golf Course getting underway at 2PM; $60/per 2-person team.

Island Assault: 1944 - Nimitz Museum 7/1-2

Experience the sites, sounds and drama of a World War II assault on an enemy bunker. Re-enactors use authentic clothing, weapons and vehicles from the Pacific War era. Programs are in an outdoor environment, so dress for the weather conditions. Educational opportunity for the entire family.

Demonstrations will be presented at the Pacific Combat Zone at 10:30 a.m., 12:30PM,
2:30PM and 4PM each day. The Pacific Combat Zone is located two blocks northeast of the museum complex on E. Austin Street between Elk and Lee.

Fees for "Island Assault: 1944" are free with regular museum admission of $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children age 5 and younger. Fees without museum admission are $2 for adults and $1 for students.

ARTS Encounters with the Benini's - 6/24-25

ARTS Encounters at The Benini Foundation Galleries & Sculpture Ranch is a fun & unique artsy-thing to do, and happens on a monthly basis! All events are free of charge and EVERYONE's welcome!

Luckenbach Rod & Custom Show - June 24


Saturday, June 24, Luckenbach will host the third Rod & Custom Car, Truck & Bike Show to benefit the Hill Country Boys & Girls Club. Gates open at 9 a.m. The show will include hot rods, customs, classics and muscle cars through 1976, and motorcycles and Corvettes. The entry fee is $20 if postmarked by June 19 and $25 after that date.

Hunks & Huggables 2007 Calendar Preview Party - June 24

On Saturday June 24th, Pedernales Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) will be holding their Hunks and Huggables 2007 Calendar Preview Party. The calendar will feature Fredericksburg Men and their Four-Footed Friends. At the party there will be music by the Derek Spence Band, free food and drink, plus the PAWS calendar (photos by Melissa Starry) and artwork by Art Guild members for sale.


All the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to the Steve Shepherd Memorial Pet Spay and Neuter Fund.

Stonewall Peach Jamboree & Rodeo

A Mosaic Class by Suzan Germond - Artisans at Rocky Creek


Suzan Germond will be the instructor for a Mosaic class at Artisans at Rocky Hill, 6266 E Us Highway 290, which is 9 hours over two days - Sat., June 17th: 10AM to 4PM AND Sat., June 24th: 1PM to 4PM. Cost is $150.00.


Suzan Germond has been a practicing mosaic artist in Lakeway, Texas for 6 years. She has a Ph.D. in Art History from Stanford University and has experience as a college instructor, an art appraiser of Old Masters and working in fine art galleries. With this substantial art background to draw upon Suzan has chosen to make mosaics that embody the transformative process; changing old, discarded, nondescript objects into works of beauty. Suzan uses a variety of materials such as iridescent glass, Italian smalti, ceramic tile, colored mirror, jewelry and found objects to create detailed, colorful and whimsical art work. Suzan's instruction has been seen on HGTV's "That's Clever" plus, she has been approached by a publishing company to write a "Mosaic How-To" book.

Volkssportverein Walk & Swim - June 10

This event celebrates 30 years of Volkssporting in Fredericksburg and the USA as well as the 160th birthday of the founding of Fredericksburg. Each walker that walks for credit will receive a booklet titled Fredericksburg: Then and Now. Volkssportverein Friedrichsburg (VVF) is a member of the International Volkssportverband.

Walk: Fredericksburg Convention & Visitors Bureau at 302 E. Austin St. - 7AM to Noon; finish by 3PM. The walk may be repeated on the same day for double distance on the same card.

Route: The 20K route has one short segment that is an unpaved trail going up Cross Mountain and is rated "3" at that point (no strollers or wheelchairs). The remainder of the 20K and the 10K route is paved and suitable for strollers/wheelchairs. The route is rated "1" ocurring on paved streets. There are some busy street crossings. Participants will have the option of a 5K route.

Swim: Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park and Swimming Pool. - Begin between 8:30AM and Noon. Finish by 1PM.

Celebrating the 30th birthday of the first Volkssport in the USA/FBG, a 1" diameter hat pin will be available to purchase. Only 100 pins will be sold with no re-order.

There is no pre-registration. The fee is $6 for the award with IVV Credit or $3 for credit only for EACH the walk and the swim. Persons not seeking credit may walk and swim free although donations are appreciated. Everyone must register; events take place rain or shine; no refunds; participate at your own pace and everyone is welcome.

Refreshments: Water will be available at the Start/Finish and check points. There are many fine restaurants and bakeries in town.

IVV Credit: Each event will count for IVV Credit. Books must be stamped upon completion of the event. Stamps can ONLY be put in official AVA/IVV Achievement Books. Achievement Books and New Walker Packets will be for sale for $5 each.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets MUST be kept on a leash at all times and are not allowed in the building. Restrooms are at the Start/finish. There is NO smoking and NO littering. Waivers for the walk and swim must be signed.
