Kick-A-Boot Band at Pat's Hall - 6/23

WE'LL BE DANCING IN THE AIR-CONDITIONED HALL. TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.

The Kick-A-Boot Band came about in the summer of 2007, when the regular band at the VFW Hall in Fredericksburg wanted to take the summer off. So Dora Lee Sewell managed to get a band together and they still play today. The band plays good old country classic dance music from artists such as Ray Price, Ernest Tubb, Kitty Wells, Hank Thompson, Loretta Lynn, and many more. Members of the band are Gordon Dowdy (steel guitar and vocals), Kenneth Terry (fiddle), Andrew Neilsen (bass and vocals) and Mark Luedecke (drums).

Dora Lee began singing as a member of the Crenwelge Sisters in the early 50s. After a hiatus of many years, Dora Lee married Rip Sewell and told him stories about singing. They were at London Hall when Sewell asked the band if his wife could sit in. She was a success and performs in Opry shows in Mason and Llano.

If you like the CLASSIC country music, come on out to Pat's Hall, 407 Post Oak, at 2:30 pm!

Bat Cave Information

The Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area on Old San Antonio Road is home to over 2 million bats, and viewing the nightly emergence (May - October) from their roost in the old railroad tunnel is a popular free event for many. For most current expected viewing time each night, call the Old Tunnel information line at 866-978-2287. It's also recommended that visitors arrive at least one hour before the posted time in case the bats emerge sooner than expected. Education sessions on the lower level on Thursdays through Sundays are available, with tickets to attend for sale beginning at 6:15 p.m. (these sell out quickly so arrive early).
