714 West Main - Schneider-Klingelhoeffer Home
The original townlot was granted to the Hahn family. When they died during one of the two cholera epidemics, the property was sold at “public outcry” for $18. While it is not known who built the house, Ludwig Schneider lived in the house for many years. Mr. Schneider was a watchmaker and stonemason. Schneider’s heirs sold the house to H. Habenicht in 1879. Charles and Louis Preiss purchased it in 1883. In 1890 Mary Neal Brodie and her husband bought the house. They sold the house to August Koennecke in 1894, who sold it to A. W. Klingelhoeffer of Salt Lake City in 1914. Rudolf Huber of Chicago purchased the house in 1976.
Cross Main Street and walk to Creek Street. Turn left and walk to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
