Memorial Service for 1LT Phillip Isaac Neal


Flags in Fredericksburg have been flying at half staff to honor a local soldier killed in Iraq. 1LT Phillip Isaac Neal of the 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division out of Ft. Hood, died on Easter Sunday after being injured in a battle shortly before midnight. His military honors included the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct, National Defense, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Ribbon, Global War on Terror Service Ribbon, Over Seas Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Parachute Badge and Ranger Tab. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 21, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fredericksburg High School Auditorium. Flags in Fredericksburg will continue to fly at half mast in tribute to 1st LT Neel until sunrise on Sunday, April 22nd.
