St. Nikolausmarkt - 12/3-4

St. Nickolausmarkt is the perfect start to the holiday season and there is no place finer than Fredericksburg to have a traditional German Christmas Market. The event takes place on the Marktplatz which is beautifully decorated at Christmas and features a 26 foot Christmas Pyramid! "The St. Nikolausmarkt is patterned after German Christmas Markets and truly reflects this community's Germans heritage," cites Melodi Frederick, chair of the St. Nikolausmarkt committee. She added, "This market brings the opportunity to share our German traditions with our families and the many visitors who choose to spend time in our city, and we're so excited to make it happen!" Visitors can do some early Christmas shopping in the more than 40 booths that feature such wares as Christmas ornaments, nutcrackers, clothing and accessories, to traditional German clothing, German jellies and jams, candles and jewelry. The vendors come from out of town and state, but also include many of our fine local merchants featuring items bought especially for this Christmas Market. In addition, traditional German food and beverages are served on site and prepared by local restaurants The St. Nikolausmarkt starts on Friday, December 3rd, and runs through Saturday, December 4, 2010.
