Vintner Dinner and Art in the Garden at Fredericksburg Herb Farm
The Texas Hill Country is becoming a hot spot for art and wine; the Fredericksburg Herb Farm is celebrating both during their next Vintner Dinner and Art in the Garden event.
On Thursday October 27, 2011 the Fredericksburg Herb Farm will host “Art in the Garden” an event showcasing a variety of local artists with an assortment of talents including plein air painting, glasswork, pottery, jewelry, and much more. The event takes place between 5pm and 7pm and will be followed by a five course Vintner Dinner prepared by Herb Farm Chef Asa Thornton and featuring select wines from Becker Vineyards; the dinner bell will ring at 7pm.
You can expect to find artists of all types at the event including Emily Ferrier Leland, a pleine aire painter who has also worked in fashion, textile and metal design; Donna Lafferty, an impressionist who specializes in original acrylic or gouache paintings; Susan Gleye, an artist whose pottery and glasswork pieces are often featured at the Herb Farm’s gift shop; Larry and Vici Wray owners of Yummy Day Designs who will be displaying an array of garden art specialties; Jeep Collins, an accomplished jewelry designer with a retail shop located in Fredericksburg; Betty Blackmond, a former art teacher and city planner whose oil paintings are displayed at art galleries in Llano and Marble falls; Art Among Friends, a group of Austin watercolorists; Kathleen McBride, a fused and hot glass artist who is also currently featured at the Herb Farm; and Lance Von Prum, the Herb Farm’s resident artist who specializes in watercolors, blacksmithing, metal work and more.
The evening’s featured wine is a local favorite. Becker Vineyards is located in the Texas Hill Country on highway 290 between Fredericksburg and Stonewall. Representatives from Becker will be present during dinner to introduce the selection of wines that will be served. Wine pairings include Becker Chardonnay, Barbera, Rousanne, Reserve Merlot and Viognier.
The “Art in the Garden” event is free and open to the public; light hors d’oeuvres will be served and bar service from the Herb Farm’s new Bistro Bar will be available during the show. The five course Vintner Dinner following the art show is $89 per person and includes a pairing of Becker Wine with each course. Dinner reservations are required.
