Grand Opening John Bennett's Rodeo Studio and Gallery
This event is the official ribbon cutting and open house for John Bennett's Rodeo Studio and Gallery at 208 E. San Antonio Street. The public is invited to attend and see John's sculptures from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday September 15.
John recently was commissioned by the Leesburg Library in Florida to conceptualize and complete a life size bronze sculpture of Alice Reeves, the granddaughter of a slave. Mrs. Reeves sits with her three year old great-granddaughter on a park bench reading. The sculpture will sit in front of the new $8.2 million Leesburg Library to represent the contributions of the African American community in Leesburg. This will be the second commission for John Bennett by the library; the first, a life size bronze sculpture of Annie Oakley and her dog Dave was installed in it's own courtyard on the library grounds in June.
Other artists that show in Rodeo Studio are:
- Roy Lee Ward of Hunt
- Nancy Boren, The Colony
- Delia Hunt, Comfort
- Martha Allen, San Antonio
