Easy Orchid Workshop - 5/27

Island Assault: 1944 - Nimitz Museum 5/27-29

Experience the sights, sounds and drama of a World War II assault on an enemy bunker. Re-enactors use authentic clothing, weapons and vehicles from the Pacific War era. Programs are in an outdoor environment, so dress for the weather conditions. Educational opportunity for the entire family.


Demonstrations will be presented at the Pacific Combat Zone at 10:30 a.m., 12:30PM,
2:30PM and 4PM each day. The Pacific Combat Zone is located two blocks northeast of the museum complex on E. Austin Street between Elk and Lee.


Fees for "Island Assault: 1944" are free with regular museum admission of $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children age 5 and younger. Fees without museum admission are $2 for adults and $1 for students.

Ben Beckendorf, son of legendary Texas artist Charles Beckendorf, provides the musical backdrop for his artwork on display at Artisans at Rocky Hill, 6266 E Us Highway 290, east of fredericksburg, Texas. Like his father, Ben enjoys working in many mediums which include oil, acrylic, pencil and watercolor. Ben's style is his own; developed over many years of building his personal collection, which has recently become available to the public.

Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance Summer Concerts - 5/21 - 6:30 pm

Fredericksburg's live music weekend concludes on Sunday night with the PCAA Summer Concert Series featuring Bill Smallwood's Lonestar Swing Orchestra. This 18 piece band performs music from the "Big Band" era of the 30's and 40's. Imagine Glenn Miller and Count Basie meet Bob Wills and Spade Cooley.


The LSSO features Bill on vocals, tenor sax, & trumpet. This group also features Sandi Campbell on vocals accompanied by some of the Texas Hill Country's finest instrumentalists.

Robert Bates Organ Concert - 5/21 - 3 pm

What began as a music study club in 1937, the Fredericksburg Music Club has evolved into a nationally and internationally recognized presenter of outstanding musical artists and ensembles. This weekend, they present Robert Bates, concert organist, at the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, 1800 North Llano Street in Fredericksburg Texas. The concert begins at 3 pm. Bates has recorded the complete organ works of Brahms (Pro Organo), Daquin (Loft Recordings) and Correa de Arauxo (to be released by Loft Recordings). His three-CD set, "Viaticum" (Loft Recordings), contains eight of his own compositions. A live performance for the National Convention of the American Guild of Organists in 2000 is now available on CD ("Robert Bates in recital at Lagerquist Hall" (ReZound Recordings).

8th Annual Lavendar Festival, Becker Vineyards 5/20-21

Hill Country SPCA Dog Trot 5K Run/Walk

A family-fun, and pet friendly event, the Dog Trot benefits the Hill Country SPCA. Please bring your pets! They will recognize the pets adopted from the HCSPCA, and the owners will receive a ribbon to wear. Over the past nine years they have found homes for over 1800 dogs and cats and hope to see many of these pets at the Dog Trot. Fredericksburg Choral Spring Concert - 5/19-20

The Fredericksburg Chorale will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's Mass in B Minor at Zion Lutheran Church, 426 West Main, in Fredericskburg, Texas. Friday night, the concert will begin at 7 pm. On Saturday, the concert is at 3 pm.


Bach began setting the Latin Mass to music in 1724, writing four different parts. In 1749, the four pieces were bundled together. Portions of the Mass in B Minor were performed frequently, but the entire mass was not performed until 1859.

Fredericksburg's Live Music Weekend - 5/19-21

If you are into music, Fredericksburg, Texas is the place to be next weekend.


On Friday and Saturday, you can hear Bach's Mass in B Minor performed by the Fredericksburg Chorale. Saturday evening, enjoy Blugrass by Sarah Jarosz and The Grassy Knoll Boys at the Roots Concert Series. Sunday afternoon, concert organist Robert Bates will perform. Then Bill Smallwood and the Lone Star Swing Orchestra plays Big Band and Country Swing music on Sunday evening.

Intertribal PowWow - 5/12 - 5/13

Early voting for Fredericksburg, Texas' City elections began May 1 and will continue until May 9. You may vote at City Hall at 126 West Main Street. on election day, May 13, Voting will be at the Middle School Cafeteria, 110 West Travis Street.

Willow City VFD Annual Benefit BBQ

Fire Departments always face budget problems, but volunteer fire departments are always needing funds. The Willow City Ladies Auxiliary will sell homemade canned & baked goods, and desserts from 3PM - 4PM. Live auction starts at 4PM with raffle prize drawings throughout the afternoon. Embracing Hope & Embracing Life: Robert Jacoby Benefit - May 6 - 5 pm

Robert Jacoby is a native of Stonewall and a 1973 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. He is self-employed and owns his own construction business. He was recently diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor, and his racked up a large amount of medical bills. Maifest - a German Chorale Concert - May 7
