New Years Eve Dance at Turner Hall - December 31

The Wagon Aces return to the Turner Hall, 103 West Travis Street, to ring in the New Year.  Dance in 2012 on December 31, from 8:30 to 12:30 at Turner Hall.  Tickets go on sale December 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Turner Hall located at 103 W Travis Street, Fredericksburg.  Tickets will be $20.00 per person.  Tickets will be sold at Turner Hall from 6 to 8 pm on December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18.  Any unsold tickets will be sold at the door on December 31 at 7 pm.

Zweite Weinachten

The Zweite Weihnachten Party takes place on Saturday, December 26, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 312 W. San Antonio Street. There will be plenty of refreshments like home baked goods like lebkuchen (kind of a gingerbread), apfel saft (warm spiced apple cider) and gluhwein (warm, spiced wine) to go along with some German Christmas music and gemutlichkeit.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting - LBJ State and National Park - Dec 21

Kinderfest - Dec. 6

Children ages 10 years and younger are invited to Pioneer Museum for the annual Kinderfest. Come experience a local Christmas tradition. Children are invited to hang a stocking on the Kammlah House hearth for St. Nicholas to fill. Enjoy singing, story-telling, ornament making, refreshments and perhaps even a visit from Santa Claus! Hang stockings from 9:30 to 10 am. Program from 10 to 11 am. Free admission only for children 10 and under accompanied by a paid adult. $5 per adult; $3 students ages 11 – 17.

Chamber Light the Night Christmas Parade & After Glow - 12/5

Enjoy this celebration of light, community and the Christmas spirit! Parade route includes both reserved and free seating. After Glow activities include children’s programming, shopping and local food and wine – all bathed in Fredericksburg’s spectacular Christmas lights! Parade route is on Main Street and starts at 6:30 pm. After Glow activites on Marktplatz from 3 to 10 pm. Photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 8 to 10 pm. Reserved parade seating cost is $15 first come, first served and tickets may be picked up at the Visitor Center. Attendees seated in the bleachers will be able to view the Laser Light Show which serves as the grand opening of the parade.

Rockbox Christmas Show - 11/28 - 12/24

4th Annual Fredericksburg Turkey Trot - 11/29

Git yer Gobble On!  5K, 10K and Fun Run to benefit the Fredericksburg Swim Association.  Prizes for top male and female finishers and medals for top 3 finishers in each age group.  Races start at the Fredericksburg Elementary School.  Support swimming and work off that Thanksgiving Dinner!  For questions, please call or email fredericksburgswim@gmail.com

Turkey Trot with the Ranger at Enchanted Rock - 11/27


Start your Thanksgiving Day running the trails of Enchanted Rock with a park ranger.  Bring all of your running gear to burn off some calories before you indulge in your Thanksgiving Feast.  Choose from a 5 mile run on the Loop Trail, 3 mile run on the Loop Trail or a 1.2 mile guided hike to the summit.  Cost is a suggested donation of $10 to the Friends of Enchanted Rock.  Hot chocolate will be served as well as door prizes to be awarded.  This is strictly a fun run and not a race.  Start a new family tradition.  Reservations required.  Secure your spot by emailing Ranger Scott Whitener at Scott.Whitener@tpwd.texas.gov

“‘Tis The Season” Evening Shopping Event - 11/20

Nine “off Main” stores have banded together to offer ‘Tis The Season, an evening shopping event to put you ready for the holidays!  In addition to opening their doors for late shopping, stores will offer snacks, music, special discounts or other surprises.  Shoppers will have the opportunity to fill out a punch card for each store visited.  Those who visit all stores will be entered in a drawing to win one of nine prizes valued from $25 to $500.  Participating stores include the Red Baron Antique Mall, Fredericksburg Antique Mall, Smitten, The Farmhouse, Henfeathers, Jabberwocky, Lone Star Antique Mall, The Attic and Timeless Menagerie.

“Celebrate America” Show at Rockbox Theater - 7/4-5

What if you could gather all those great bands of yesterday to perform their greatest hits for you live and in person, all together and on the same stage? The original and “authentic” sounds of the bands of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Harry James and more? It sounds like an impossible dream, but it isn’t. The great sound of the greatest bands of the swing era…”the Greatest Music of the Greatest Generation”… is alive and well, and can once more be heard in person, courtesy of the dedication and musical artistry of the Sentimental Journey Orchestra.

An authentic 19-piece big band featuring full sections of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, rhythm and vocalists, under the direction of leader Ted Conerly, serves up a banquet of the Big Band’s Greatest Hits. Tickets available online.
