LBJ to host annual Seed Stomp - 9/20-21

Wildflower Fall Planting Days - 9/13-14

Wildseed Farms' Wildflower Celebration - 4/5-20

Wildseed Farms, approximately 7 Miles East of Fredericksburg on US Hwy 290, presents over 200 acres of flower fields in bloom Aril 5 through April 20 from 9:30 AM to 6 PM everyday, with live music on the weekends. The farm store is stocked full of home and garden ideas as well as the nursery stocked with live plants. Wildflower Celebration At Wildseed Farms - 4/7-22

The celebration starts April 7th and runs through April 22nd from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM daily. Acres of wildflower fields will be on display at the nation's largest working wildflower farm. Gifts for the home and garden, specialty foods and refreshments are available at the Market Center daily, as well as wine tasting and jelly sampling on the weekends. Browse one of the largest live plant nurseries and pottery displays in the Texas Hill Country.

Admission price to "The Meadows" - which features an optional self-guided adventure tour that includes a 3,000 square foot Live Butterfly Exhibit, colorful walking trails and more - are $5/per person, $4/seniors 65 + older, $3.50/per person groups of 15 or more or with active military ID.

Suggested driving routes for Fredericksburg-area wildflower trails:

• From Main Street, take FM 965 (N. Milam St.) 18 miles north to drive past Enchanted Rock, the second largest granite outcropping in the U.S. Continue on FM 965 to the intersection of State Hwy. 16, where you'll turn right (south) back towards Fredericksburg. This drive is approximately 50 miles.
• Take Main Street (US Hwy 290) east out of town towards Stonewall. In Stonewall turn left onto FM 1623 until it intersects with FM 2721. Turn left on FM 2721, and then after about 5.8 miles turn left on Jung Ln. Take Jung Ln. back to Hwy 290. Turning right on Hwy 290 will bring you back into Fredericksburg. This drive is approximately 30 miles.
• Take Main Street (US Hwy 290) east out of town towards Stonewall. In Stonewall turn left onto FM 1623 until it intersects with FM 2721. Turn left on FM 2721, and follow that until you see the intersection with FM 1631. Turn north (right) on FM 1631 and go 9 miles to intersection with FM 1323. Turn west (left) on FM 1323 and go through Willow City to Hwy. 16. Turn south (left) on Hwy. 16 and return to Fredericksburg. This drive is approximately 50 miles.
• From Main Street, take US Hwy 87 (Washington St) south all the way to the tiny town of Comfort, where it intersects with IH-10. Take IH-10 west towards Kerrville and exit at State Hwy. 16. Turn right (north) on State Hwy. 16, which will take you back to Main Street (US Hwy 290) in Fredericksburg. This drive is approximately 60-65 miles.

While we want you to fully appreciate the beautiful wildflowers we strongly suggest that you remain in your vehicle. Many areas in the Hill Country where wildflowers are abundant are on private property and you would be illegally trespassing should you go off the road. But most important, we are concerned about you and your passengers’ safety. We would not like to see your day spoiled by a traffic mishap or a poisonous bite or sting. If you would like to photograph the flowers, there are a number of public parks as well as attractions that you can safely take that special photograph of your family amongst the wildflowers. Enjoy our Hill Country but be safe!

Monarch Celebration at Wildseed Farms - Oct 7

In celebration of the Monarch butterflies’ journey through the Texas Hill Country en-route to Mexico, Wildseed Farms of Fredericksburg, Texas is hosting the 3rd annual Monarch Celebration on October 7th and 8th, 2006.

In combined effort with Monarch Watch at the University of Kansas, Monarchs will be “tagged” and released throughout the United States as part of a large-scale mark and recapture program to aid in the study and research of their migration. Tagging consist of placing a tiny official Monarch Watch self-adhesive tag on the butterfly’s wings. Wildseed Farms’ Monarch Celebration tagging and release event will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm, and again on Sunday, October 8th at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm.

Visitors can observe Monarch tagging and release demonstrations and see graceful butterflies surrounded by the plants they use for nectar and as host plants. Witness the magic of the butterfly life cycle and learn the basics of butterfly gardening. There is no charge to Wildseed Farms’ Monarch Celebration, which includes tagging demonstrations. The standard admission fee is charged for entrance to the Meadows, which includes the live butterfly exhibit. Fun for the whole family!
