Whistle Pik Miniature Bronze Show - 11/1-14

Whistle Pik Galleries, 425 E. Main Street, will host a two-week Miniature Bronze Show, featuring the works of Sandy Scott, beginning Sunday, November 1 and running through November 14. Wine 'til Nine with Halloween at Pedernales Cellars - 10/31

Pedernales Cellars will be celebrating Halloween with a costume party during Wine 'til Nine Saturday October 31. Come to the winery dressed in costume and the best one will be awarded a prize. Lonnie Lett will be performing a variety of music to bring in the evening. A great glass of wine, a great view, and a great chance to spend time with someone special. Come and choose from any of our wines, including the Texas Tawny Port. What's an evening without a glass of port with flavors of black cherry and chocolate to end the day. Assorted exotic cheeses and meats will be available for purchase in our tasting room. We welcome you to spend the evening with us at Pedernales Cellars. Entrance & parking are free. Cancer Survivor Dinner Seminar and Style Show - 10/29

Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center's cordially invites you to a special evening featuring Donna McMahon's breast cancer journey, local fashions modeled by cancer survivors, fashions provided by local boutiques and a heart healthy dinner. Rebecca Weatherford, local fused art glass artist, whose wonderful pieces can be seen at Fredericksburg Art Gallery, is opening her studio to visitors and you are cordially invited to attend. There is no charge for this tour, however transportation will be provided at a cost of $15 per person. Nunsense II - 10/9-25

James Avery Store Opens on Main Street

James Avery, a family-owned jewelry retailer since 1954, has opened at 207 E. Main Street in the historic Schandua Building. The Fredericksburg location is the company's second location in the Hill Country, with the company headquarters, a retail store and a visitor center located in Kerrville. Fredericksburg is also home to one of the five James Avery workshops located throughout the Hill Country. Store hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. The telephone number at the store is 830-992-2908.

First Annual Family Fun Weekend at the LBJ Ranch - 10/10-11

Two special family friendly activities will highlight the weekend at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. The park’s Friends group is sponsoring a family fun run on Saturday, October 10, beginning at 9:00am and also a bike tour hosted by Luci Baines Johnson on Sunday. Registration for either or both is available at www.friendsoflbjnationalpark.org. The family fun run will include three routes, a 1K, a 5K and a 10K, all on the LBJ Ranch. The cost of participation includes a T-shirt for all participants registering on the Friends web site by September 30. Also included in the cost is a tour of the living room, dining room, kitchen and presidential office in the Texas White House. The bike tour, which will cover approximately nine miles, also includes the T-shirt and in the Texas White House. The cost for each activity is $20.00 for adults (ages 13 and higher), $15.00 for children (ages 12 and under), and a group rate of $50.00 for a family of three persons or more. Participants must register for each activity separately. The bike tour has a limit of 200 participants. There is no limit for any of the three fun run routes. Both events will be held rain or shine. Participants in either the fun run or the bike ride are encouraged to make a day of it in the parks, both at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park (the LBJ Ranch) and Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, which has many attractions including the Sauer Beckmann Farm, nature trails and wildlife, bison and Longhorn enclosures, and free fishing (no permit needed) on the Pedernales River. Picnic groves at the state park are available for those who wish to bring lunch or snacks. Proceeds from both activities will benefit the educational programs and initiatives of the Friends of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and the Johnson City Community Education Foundation. President and Mrs. Johnson were dedicated to the furtherance of education in all its forms, a mission which is upheld by both of their daughters to this day.
