"Mommy & Me, Hoppy Easter" Painting Class at The Yellow Door Studio - March 27

Have a creative night out with your little one and join us for a parent/child painting class!  “Mommy (or Daddy) & Me” classes are for parent and child to attend together.  Children 5 and over are welcome.  Parents are welcome too, and do not have to paint but must attend and help.

6 to 8 pm.  First painter is $45; each additional painter in the same family is $20.

The Yellow Door Studio, 810 North Llano is Fredericksburg’s first community arts education center, offering a variety of artistic training for all levels and abilities.  Come have fun with us!

8th Annual LBJ 100 B ike Ride - 3/28


8th Annual LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour provides routes of 10, 30, 42, 62 and 85 miles throughout the scenic Texas Hill Country taking riders on quiet country roads and past historical landmarks.  The ride begins and ends on the LBJ Ranch airstrip. “Sands of Iwo Jima” Film at the National Museum of the Pacific War - March 25

70 years ago this year, World War II in the Pacific was wrapping up and the war was coming to an end.  The National Museum of the Pacific War has annuonced that they will be showing famous films that cover certain battles in concurrence with the anniversary of those battles.  These films will be free to the public and with limited seating.  Films are planned to be shown at 6 pm at the Admiral Nimitz Museum, 340 E. Kite Day at LBJ State Park & Historic Site

Bring the family to the LBJ State Park and Historic Site from 1 pm to 3 pm and spend Saturday March 10 making and flying kites. Learn the basics of kite construction and flying a homemade kite. The park will supply recycled materials and help kids make their own kites; you are also encouraged to bring your own kites to enjoy flying in the park.

“Spring Bird” Painting Class at The Yellow Door Studio - March 20

Are you looking for an easy way to explore your creative side and have a fun night out with friends?  Art and Vino is the answer!  Grab a friend and a bottle of wine and come paint with us! All supplies are provided, as are experienced local artists and teachers, Jill Holland and Shannon Birchum, who lead you step-by-step through the process of recreating the featured artwork.  The theme for the March class is “Spring Bird”.  The Yellow Door Studio, 810 N. Van Der Stucken Music Fesitval - 3/21

Music fans are invited to help celebrate the life and music of Fredericksburg native son Frank Van der Stucken at the Van der Stucken Festival this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Halle, 212 West San Antonio Street, Fredericksburg TX. The event is free and open to the public.

The Van der Stucken Festival was established in 1991 by Friends of Van der Stucken to increase appreciation for the life and work of Fredericksburg native composer Frank Van der Stucken. This will be the first year that the nonprofit Fredericksburg Community Orchestras (FCO) presents the festival. This year’s program will introduce the first Van der Stucken Composition Contest. The winner of this nationwide competition will be announced at the festival and the winning composition will be premiered by an ensemble of FCO.

The Van der Stucken Festival is supported with contributions from the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance, Monterrey Iron and Metal Works, and Jack Vexler, whose wife, Bette, is a direct descendant of Frank Van der Stucken.

Pedernales Brewing Company Spring Break Tasting Room Hours

Pedernales Brewing Company will expand their tasting room hours Friday March 14th and Saturday March 15 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. And from Monday March 16 to Saturday March 21 from 1 to 6 pm. Beer is available by the pint for $4, and tour/tasting/glass is $10.

Austin Baroque Orchestra & Chorus present “A Cantata by Any Other Name . . .” - 3/15

Luckenbach, Texas celebrates Texas Independence. Official Texas Flag retirement ceremony with Texas Rangers. Starting at noon, Brian Burns and Doug Moreland entertain and present history through music.  The Texas Star Trail Ride comes through town around 3 to 4 pm – it’s a sight to behold.  Then to end the day, Dusty Britches and The Rhythm Ranch Hands will be in the dancehall at 8 pm and there is no cover charge. First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg


A tradition in Fredericksburg is the FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK FREDERICKSBURG, with galleries open until 8:00pm. Fredericksburg's art galleries will be focusing on some aspect of exhibiting artists' works, which may include painting and fine craft demonstrations, casual art talks, opportunities to meet artists, special showings and entertainment. Participants will experience the Fredericksburg art scene up close and personal while enjoying fine wines from local wineries and beyond all day long. Participating galleries are Artisans at Rocky Hill, Charles Beckendorf Gallery, Ben Beckendorf Gallery, Fredericksburg Art Gallery, The Good Art Gallery, Photography 414,  and Whistle Pik Galleries.

The Original Texas Star Trail Ride - 3/6-14

Join us as we ride The Original Texas Star Trail through Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, Stonewall, Johnson City, Blanco, Fischer, Wimberley and Driftwood.  Each year, about 300 people take part in the 112 mile ride.  It’s the experience of a lifetime and one you will not forget.  We cross 40 cattle guards through more than 20 Texas Hill Country ranches, including the LBJ Ranch.  Spectators welcome!  Please visit the website for more information.
